Wolvercote Cemetery

Wolvercote Cemetery is a cemetery close to the north Oxford suburb of Wolvercote, England, off the Banbury Road. Unusually, this single cemetery is divided into areas to accommodate graves of the Jewish and Muslim communities, as well as all categories of Christians. Many Russians, Poles and other East Europeans who did not belong to Oxford parishes are buried here. The cemetery is equipped with toilet facilities, car parking spaces and a beautiful chapel. Near the chapel is a large area set aside for the burial of cremated remains. There is also an area at the back of the cemetery set aside for green burials and an area set aside for the burial of stillborns and infants. It is a working cemetery and there are more than 15,000 people buried there. It was opened in 1889.
